Sample Usage Scenarios Parent topic

Scenario
Solution
The company policy is to prevent all users from receiving Sounds attachment types on devices, but allow users that belong to the Music Club to sync .mp3 files using iOS devices.
  1. Configure the Global Policy to block the specific attachment type Sounds.
  2. Create an exception rule that applies to the Music Club and specify the operating system iOS.
  3. Configure the exception rule to target .mp3 files.
The company policy is to block .mp3, .doc, and .exe files. However, allow the Music Club to receive .mp3 files and allow ScanMail Mobile to receive .exe files.
  1. Set the Global Policy to block .mp3, .doc, and .exe files.
  2. Create an exception rule named Music Club, configure the rule to pass .mp3 files on iOS devices, and set the priority to 1.
  3. Create an exception rule named ScanMail Mobile, configure the rule to pass .exe files, and set the priority to 2.
Note
Note
ScanMail Mobile uses a "first-match" rule when processing exception rules.
For example, an email message containing an .mp3, .doc, and .exe file is sent to User A. If User A belongs to both the Music Club and ScanMail Mobile groups and uses an iOS device, ScanMail Mobile passes the .mp3 file but does not process any further exceptions. ScanMail Mobile does not pass the .exe file to the user's mailbox.
