Activating Multi-Factor Authentication Parent topic

After MFA is enabled, users must activate their MFA accounts in SecureCloud.
Important
Important
Part of the MFA account activation process involves typing two numeric codes generated by Google Authenticator. Users must type the codes in consecutive order in order to successfully activate the account. If the codes are not consecutive, the account activation attempt will be unsuccessful.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the SecureCloud Web Console URL.
SecureCloud redirects to the Multi-factor Authentication Activation screen.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Scan the QR code shown on the screen with your smart phone
    • Type the key in Google Authenticator on your smart phone

  3. Type the authentication code in the Authentication Code #1 field:

If the authentication code is red, this indicates that Google Authenticator is about to generate a new code. Users should wait until a new code is generated.

  4. Wait until Google Authenticator generates the next authentication code and type it into the Authentication Code #2 field.

  5. Click Continue.
SecureCloud generates a set of MFA backup codes. Copy the codes to a text file and save the file in a secure folder. If a user does not have access to an MFA device or cannot access Google Authenticator, backup codes are available to log on to the SecureCloud Web Console.
