About Security Risk Scans

This section describes the background and configuration settings needed for Security Risk Scan. PortalProtect provides two options for Security Risk Scan: Conventional Scan, or Smart Scan. Conventional Scan sends request to the scan engine on your local machine. Smart Scan uses the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network, which is your private next-generation cloud-client content security infrastructure designed to protect your SharePoint environment from security risks and Web threats. Protection is automatically updated and strengthened as more products, services and users access the network, creating a real-time neighborhood watch protection service for those who use it. The smart scan solution uses the Smart Protection Network for in-the-cloud protection.
