Rebuilding the IIS virtual directory due to Web console-related issues may cause the OfficeScan client to appear as disconnected.

Explanation:

If the Web console port number is not 8080, after executing the command "svrinst.exe –setvirdir" to rebuild the IIS virtual directory due to Web console-related issues, the OfficeScan client appears as disconnected. This is because the command sets the TCP port of the OfficeScan Web server to port 8080.

Solution:

  1. Determine the correct port.

  1. Open IIS Manager.

  2. Go to the OfficeScan virtual directory and open its properties.

  3. In the Web site tab, change the TCP port from "8080" to the correct port value.

After installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, a certificate error displays when opening the OfficeScan Web console.

Explanation: The error explains the problem: "Certificate Error: Navigation Blocked. There is a problem with this website's security certificate."

Solution:

  1. On the Certificate Error message, click Continue to this website.

  2. Click the Certificate Error bar on the right side of the browser's address bar. The Untrusted Certificate message window displays.

  3. Click View Certificates to open the Certificate window.

  4. Click Install Certificate > Next > Next > Finish.

  5. Click Yes when the Security warning displays.
