Configure Manual Scan Settings

You can set Manual Scan for virus/malware to only scan specific files and folders or change the way it handles viruses/malware when detected. For Manual Scan for spyware/grayware, you can choose to do a full or quick scan.

Virus/Malware scan

To configure settings:

  1. Select the files to scan.

To exclude certain files from the scan, select Enable scan exclusion and click Edit to specify the directories, files, or file extensions to exclude. If you install the OfficeScan client on a ScanMail for Exchange server, exclude all ScanMail for Exchange folders.

Notes:

  1. Select additional settings under Scan settings.

  1. Select the virus/malware scan action. You can use ActiveAction or a custom action.

  1. Select a CPU usage level.

  2. Tip: Lower the CPU usage if your computer runs CPU-intensive applications.

  1. Click OK.

 

Spyware/Grayware scan

To configure settings:

  1. Select a scan method.

  2. Quick: Scans only computer areas commonly targeted by spyware/grayware, which include programs and modules in memory, Windows registry, and URL shortcuts

  3. Full: Scans the entire computer

  1. Select Enable scan exclusion and then specify the file extensions to exclude from scanning.

  2. Select the spyware/grayware scan action.

  3. Click OK.
