IWSVA needs to contact various Internet sites, for example for product registration, and to contact the Trend Micro ActiveUpdate server for virus pattern, scan engine, and URL filtering engine updates.
Typically, proxy settings are solicited during installation and don't need to be modified.
If you are unsure about your proxy information, you can usually reference the settings found in most Web browsers (for example, Tools > Options > Connections).
Use a proxy server for pattern, engine, license updates and Web Reputation queries—Choose this option if there is a proxy server on the network between IWSVA and the Internet.
Server name or IP address—Identify the proxy server (double-byte characters, and automatic configuration scripts are not supported).
Port—Often 8080, this is the port that IWSVA will use to contact the proxy.
For proxy server authentication, type your user ID and password:
User ID—Enter a valid log in name for IWSVA to access the proxy (specify domain, if necessary).
Password—Enter the password for the User ID, explained previously.
Number of pattern files to keep—Trend Micro recommends that you keep a backup of the last three pattern files in case there is ever need to roll-back. This setting applies specifically to Virus, Spyware, IntelliTrap, and IntelliTrap Exception pattern files. Pattern files (about 15MB each) are located in the following directory:
/etc/iscan/
Virus pattern file rollbacks
Virus pattern file numbering
Pattern updates
