Trend Micro recommends that you set automatic pattern and scan engine updates. Recommended update intervals for the various components are listed below. Program updates (patches, etc.) occur automatically when available during the next scheduled virus pattern update.

• Virus pattern—At least hourly; new virus pattern file updates are often available several times a day to keep pace with emerging threats.

• Phish pattern—See previous

• Spyware pattern—See previous

• IntelliTrap—See previous

• Scan engine—At least weekly

• URL filtering engine (optional)—At least weekly

• URL page analysis filtering pattern-At least hourly
