Slow performance: Access Logging

Logging performance and access can decrease performance by as much as 20%. It is estimated that in a monitored environment, roughly 95% of a typical person’s Web browsing is to allowed sites. If you are running IWSVA on a system that is close to capacity, Trend Micro recommends that you disable HTTP access logging except for times when you specifically want to gather that data.

To test the impact on performance of running URL Filtering:

  1. From the main IWSVA menu, click Logs > Settings. The Reporting Logs page appears.

  2. Locate Log HTTP access events in the middle of the page, and clear the checkbox.

  3. Click Save to disable HTTP access logging and begin assessing the impact of it on overall performance.
