Although IWSVA is fully configurable, Trend Micro recommends you start
by using the following settings:
Set HTTP scanning to scan
all files
Set FTP scanning to scan
all files
Choose to clean infected
files, and quarantine or delete uncleanable ones
Scan compressed files (within
the default limits)
Enable spyware scanning
(HTTP and FTP scanning)
To ensure that your company
is adequately protected from malware and phishing sites, you should enable
Web Reputation, Spyware/Grayware scanning, and the necessary URL Filtering
under the Internet Security category
Enable automatic notifications
to the administrator
Enable hourly automatic
virus pattern and engine file updates. (IWSVA will check daily for updates;
if none are available, then nothing will be downloaded)
Keep an archive of three
past pattern files in case a rollback is ever necessary (Updates
> Connection Settings)
Choose IWSVA passwords for
the Root, Enable, and Admin accounts. The password must be a minimum of
six characters and for best security, create a highly unique password
only known to you. You can use both upper and lower case alpha characters,
numerals, and any special characters found on your keyboard to create
your passwords.
Important:
After installation, you should also do the following as soon as
possible:
- Register and activate IWSVA
- Perform a manual update of all pattern and engine files
- Test IWSVA using the EICAR test file and sample URLs, and then check
that you received the notification(s), that the correct action was taken,
and that the various directories (logs, reports, quarantine) are all accessible
to IWSVA
