You can install multiple instances of IWSVA to handle high traffic-volume.
When running more than one IWSVA, there are a few things you need to know:
You need to designate one
instance of IWSVA as "parent" and all other instances as "children."
If one instance of IWSVA
is installed as stand-alone, then all instances in the IWSVA cluster must
be stand-alone. Likewise, if one instance of IWSVA is installed as an
ICAP server, then all instances of IWSVA in the cluster must also be installed
as ICAP servers.
In a multi-server environment
IWSVA can and should use a common database to store the following:
To share report and log
data between the servers, choose "Database only" for the "Write
logs to" option in Logs > Log
Settings > Reporting logs.
Unless you have Trend Micro
Control Manager installed, IWSVA configuration files are not shared among
multiple IWSVA servers. Each IWSVA will store its own configuration for
the following files:
Scan
options, schedules, and notification messages
Proxy
server, LDAP, and other settings
Update
schedules
Log
in password
User
ID method
Individual
scan engine and virus pattern files
Note:
Trend Micro recommends that you use exactly the same settings for all
IWSVA servers in one server farm.
