General HTTP 403 Error

Problem

Adobe RealPlayer displays a 'General Error' popup when clients try to listen to streaming media; IWSVA displays a HTTP 403 error in the client browser.

Reason

IWSVA may be rejecting a portion of the content requested by RealPlayer due to a URL filtering, URL blocking, or Access Control Settings rule. In some cases, IWSVA may block a single packet from the stream because its content matches a URL filtering policy

Solution

This is a known issue. Please contact Technical Support for updated information. Other options include:

• Check the filter logs for information identifying what content is being blocked and why.

• Troubleshooting: Disable URL filtering and access the same site again. If the General Error disappeared, consider exempting that site from URL filtering.
