DLP uses data identifiers to define and recognize digital assets. Data identifiers combine with actions in policies.
DLP uses the following data identifiers to recognize digital assets.
  • Expressions: Data that has a certain structure.
  • File attributes: File properties such as file type and file size.
  • Fingerprints: Document pattern used for unstructured content.
  • Keyword lists: A list of special words or phrases.

You can define or modify any type of data identifier at any time. However, new or modified data identifiers do not take effect until you manually deploy them through the Policies screen.
