Configuring Fingerprint Settings Parent topic

  1. Navigate to AdministrationServer ConfigurationFingerprint Settings.
    The Fingerprints Settings screen appears.
  2. Set fingerprint settings as described in the table below.

    Fingerprint Settings

    Field
    Description
    Minimum File Size
Valid values: 62 Bytes to 32KB.This sets the file’s minimum size for DLP to scan the file for fingerprinting. DLP does not scan files smaller than the minimum value set in this field.
    Maximum Text File Size
Valid values: 1MB to 75MB. DLP converts documents to plain text before scanning the content for fingerprint generation or sensitive content detection. If the plain text exceeds the Maximum Text File Size set here, any content that exceeds this value is not fingerprinted or scanned for sensitive content. For example, if the maximum text file size limit is 6MB (the default setting) and the text file is 6.1MB, DLP only scans the first 6MB of the plain text document to detect sensitive content or acquire fingerprints. The .1MB over the 6MB is ignored.
    Maximum Binary File Size
Valid values: 1MB to 75MB. If a binary file exceeds the value set in the Maximum Binary File Size field, DLP does not scan the file for fingerprinting or sensitive content detection.
    Maximum Archive File Size
Valid values: 1MB to 75MB. If an archive file exceeds the value set in the Maximum Archive File Size field, DLP does not scan the file for fingerprinting or sensitive file detection.
Maximum Repository size to download the agent
Valid values: 1MB to 2GB. DLP uses the maximum repository size limitation for the fingerprints update. If the total fingerprints size exceeds the maximum repository size, the agent does not download the fingerprints. Instead, the agent performs a remote match.
  3. Set the Fingerprint Decompression Control Settings for Acquisition.
    Field
    Description
    Decompressed file size
Valid values: 1MB to 512MB. To acquire fingerprints in a compressed file, DLP decompresses the file before scanning. If the decompressed file size exceeds the value that is set here, DLP only scans up to the decompressed file size setting.
For example, suppose DLP encountered these two values:
    • Decompressed file size setting: 512MB
    • Archive file size after DLP extracts files: 600MB
DLP extracts the archived files and handles the first 512MB of files (ordered by alphabet). Files after 512MB are ignored.
    Number of embedded layers
Valid values: 1 to 20 layers. An archive file could be embedded in another archive file which is embedded in another, and so on. DLP scans and acquires fingerprints for the number of layers specified here.
    Number of decompressed files
Valid values: 1 to 2000. DLP scans and acquires fingerprints for the number of decompressed files (decompressed from archive files) specified here.
  4. Click Save.
    Note
    Note
Any change to the defaults or previous fingerprint settings do not take effect until the next fingerprint acquisition process.
