Enabling Management Service (Web Console, Ping, SSH, and SNMP) Parent topic

Enabling the management services allows remote access. By enabling SNMP support, users can obtain the supported objects information by using an SNMP manager.

Procedure

  1. Go to AdministrationManagementManagement Service.
  2. In the field below the table, specify all addresses allowed to access the appliance.

    This setting determines the IP address ranges that can remotely access the appliance. Single IP addresses are supported and the '-' symbol can be used as a range mark. Format the IPaddress/bitmask as 192.168.1.1/24. If nothing is specified, all IP addresses are allowed.
  3. To enable the Web Console, Ping, SSH, or SNMP service for an interface, select the appropriate check box.
  4. To configure SNMP, go to the SNMP settings tab and then select the Enable SNMP check box .

    If SNMP management is enabled, users can manage the device using an SNMP manager.
  5. Specify the following SNMP values:
    Option Description
    Contact Specify the email address of the contact.
    Location The location of the contact, such as “China office, IT room.”
    Community name Specify the community string required to retrieve information from Deep Edge (default: public).   .

    Contact and location information of the device can be viewed in an SNMP manager. An SNMP manager can only manage the device if the Community String specifyed is a valid v2 community string.
  6. Verify the appropriate check boxes are checked.
  7. Click Apply.
