Configuring Advanced RIP Settings

To set the RIP Global advanced timer settings:

1. Go to Network > Routing > RIP.

2. Click Global.

3. Click Advanced Settings.

4. Check the Distribute default route check box to enable distribution of default routes. (This option is not enabled until you apply the change.)

5. Set the following timers are needed:

• Update timer—Enter the amount of time (in seconds) that Deep Edge waits between sending RIP updates. Default: 30 seconds

• Timeout timer—Enter the maximum amount of time (in seconds) that a route is reachable while no updates are received for the route. This is the maximum time Deep Edge keeps a reachable route in the routing table while no updates for that route are received. If Deep Edge receives an update for the route before the timeout period expires, the timer restarts. The Timeout period should be at least three times longer than the Update period set for the Upgrade timer. Default: 180 seconds

• Garbage timer—Enter the amount of time (in seconds) that Deep Edge advertises a route as unreachable before deleting the route from the routing table. The value determines how long an unreachable route remains in the routing table. Default: 120 seconds

6. Click Apply.
