If you have problems setting up PPTP VPN, you may receive one of the following errors:
Error Message: VPN Error 800 - Unable to establish the VPN connection.
Explanation: PPTP packets from the VPN client cannot reach the Deep Edge server.
Recommended actions:
1) Ping the Deep Edge server, assuming pinging is allowed (that is, not blocked) between the PPTP client and the Deep Edge server. Confirm that you have network connectivity between the PPTP client and the Deep Edge server.
2) To allow PPTP traffic, configure the network firewall to open TCP port 1723 and to forward IP protocol 47 for Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) traffic to the Deep Edge server. Some firewalls refer to IP protocol 47 as VPN or PPTP pass-through.
Error Message: VPN Error 734 - The PPP link control protocol terminated.
Explanation: The protocol between PPTP client and Deep Edge server is mismatched.
Recommended action: For security consideration, Deep Edge server only supports MS-CHAP Version 2 and Point-to-Point Encryption. Please make sure the PPTP client supports these two protocols.
Error Message: VPN Error 691 - Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on the domain
Explanation: Username and/or password is invalid.
Recommended action: Input the correct username and/or password or ask administrator reset your password.
Error Message: VPN Error 649 - The account does not have permission to dial-in
Explanation: The account does not have permission to dial-in.
Recommended action: In the RADIUS server configuration, add dial-in permission for the account.
