Managing Slave Devices Parent topic

Managing slave devices from the master device involves the following tasks:
  1. Add slave devices to the cluster one at a time. For details, see Adding Slave Devices from the Master Device.
  2. After adding the slave devices, you can perform the following maintenance tasks on each device as necessary:
    1. Update the Management Server IP address of the slave device. For details, see Updating the Management Server IP Address of a Slave Device from the Master Device.
    2. Update the VMware logon credentials of the slave device. For details, see Updating the VMware ESXi Server Logon Credentials of a Slave Device.
No other maintenance tasks for slave devices, aside from those listed above, can be performed from the master device.
If you need to perform a maintenance task not listed above, such as updating the NAT IP address of the slave device, do the following:
  1. On the master device, remove the slave device from the cluster. For details, see Removing a Slave Device from the Cluster.
  2. On the slave device that has been removed from the cluster:
    1. Open the preconfiguration console.
    2. Temporarily change the device role to master.
    3. Perform the required maintenance task.
    4. Change the device role back to slave.
  3. On the master device, add the slave back to the cluster.
