Excluding Files, Folders, and File Extensions from Scans

To increase the performance of scanning and to skip files that are causing false alarms, you can exclude certain items from scanning. Real-Time Scan, Scheduled Scan, and Manual Scan skip scanning the files, folders, and file extensions you add to the exclusion lists.

Tip:

The scans may detect several commonly used applications, such as Hotbar, and interpret them as threats. To prevent the Security Agent from detecting commonly used applications, add the application files to the exception list.

  1. Go to the Configure Policy screen by performing one of the following:
    • Classic Mode: Go to SECURITY AGENTS and select a group. Click > Configure Policy.

    • Advanced Mode: Go to POLICIES > Policy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.

  2. Click Windows.
  3. Go to Scan Exclusions.
  4. In the Real-Time Scan / Scheduled Scan / Manual Scan section, click a tab and configure the required exceptions.
  5. To add an exception:
    1. Click Add.
    2. Specify the folder path, file name, file path, or file extension to exclude from the scans.
      • The * and ? wildcard characters are allowed

For more information, see Wildcard Exceptions.

      • Use commas, semicolons, or the ENTER key to separate multiple entries

      • Do not use the following characters: / " < > |
