The following are some of the frequently asked questions about using the Worry-Free Business Security Services Ransomware Protection features.

What happens when I click the Enable Ransomware Protection button?

Worry-Free Business Security Services automatically enables the following features:

  • Predictive Machine Learning

  • Behavior Monitoring and Ransomware Protection

  • Web Reputation

  • Newly encountered program detection

  • Unauthorized Change Prevention Service

Note:

Worry-Free Business Security Services does not automatically enable the above features on the following:

  • Classic Mode: Security Agents in the Server (Default) group

  • Advanced Mode: Server policy (Default)

How can I verify that all ransomware-related settings are enabled?

  • Predictive Machine Learning
    1. Go to the Configure Policy screen by performing one of the following:
      • Classic Mode: Go to SECURITY AGENTS and select a group. Click > Configure Policy.

      • Advanced Mode: Go to POLICIES > Policy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.

    2. Click Windows.
    3. Go to Predictive Machine Learning.
    4. Check that Predictive Machine Learning is enabled.
  • Behavior Monitoring and Ransomware Protection
    1. Go to the Configure Policy screen by performing one of the following:
      • Classic Mode: Go to SECURITY AGENTS and select a group. Click > Configure Policy.

      • Advanced Mode: Go to POLICIES > Policy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.

    2. Click Windows.
    3. Go to Behavior Monitoring.
    4. Check that Behavior Monitoring and all Ransomware Protection settings are enabled.
  • Web Reputation
    1. Go to the Configure Policy screen by performing one of the following:
      • Classic Mode: Go to SECURITY AGENTS and select a group. Click > Configure Policy.

      • Advanced Mode: Go to POLICIES > Policy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.

    2. Click Windows.
    3. Go to Web Reputation.
    4. Check that Web Reputation is enabled.
  • Newly encountered program detection
    1. Go to POLICIES > Global Security Agent Settings.
    2. Click Security Settings.
    3. In the Behavior Monitoring section, check that Prompt users before executing newly encountered programs downloaded through HTTP or email applications (Server platforms excluded) is enabled.
  • Unauthorized Change Prevention Service
    1. Go to the Configure Policy screen by performing one of the following:
      • Classic Mode: Go to SECURITY AGENTS and select a group. Click > Configure Policy.

      • Advanced Mode: Go to POLICIES > Policy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.

    2. Go to Target and Service Settings.
    3. Check that the Unauthorized Change Prevention Service is enabled on the required platforms.

What are the risks of enabling Ransomware Protection?

Enabling Ransomware Protection features may pose any of the following risks:

  • Enabling Behavior Monitoring and Ransomware Protection may cause some compatibility issues with certain applications.

    To resolve this issue, add the applications to the Exceptions list or disable Behavior Monitoring and Ransomware Protection.

    If the issue persists, contact your support provider.

  • Enabling the auto backup feature of Ransomware Protection requires an additional storage space of 100MB.

  • Enabling Program Inspection increases the detection of compromised executable files and the overall detection ratio but may decrease system performance.

What should I do when Behavior Monitoring and Ransomware Protection are not working?

To resolve this issue, perform any of the following steps.

  • Check that the Unauthorized Change Prevention Service is enabled.
